Staples Mill Road Baptist Church
PROJECT
Summary
This design/build project represents the first phase of this church's master plan for expansion. As the general contractor, Evans managed every aspect of the construction process and was the key liaison with the architect and owner. Working tightly with the church building committee, teams were easily able to work with design changes throughout the construction process. Looking at alternatives, from both a cost and design perspective, proved to make final selections much easier.
The project involved a 20,000 square foot addition which included a new 400-seat sanctuary, mezzanine and a commons area that tied into an existing educational wing. A large circular stained glass window is centered above the pulpit and serves as a grand focal point during worship. Details also included theatrical lighting, an intricate sound system, well-balanced acoustics, and media projection. The building is topped with a majestic 57 foot custom designed steeple. Evans involvement extended to completing site work, landscaping, exterior signage, and site lighting.
